It's that time again, when one year turns to the next and we begin making resolutions for ourselves, most never making it past the first few months. But the new year brings the chance to turn over a new leaf and leads the way for new hopes and dreams. And this year I want to stick to my goals and hopefully encourage you to as well, so down below are some tips that I want to share and the goals I hope to achieve this year.
My Goals
- be healthy -
- be organised and pay attention -
- stop caring about what everyone else thinks -
- save $$$ -
- be nicer -
- do something that means alot to me -
- be happy -
My Tips
1. Love yourself
Everyone tells you this, it's preached so widely across social media and has become an old "I know" saying that isn't taken to heart. It's true though, before you can learn to love everyone else and be happy, you need to learn to love yourself. This year is the chance for you to wake up and look in the mirror and tell yourself, I am worth it and I don't care about others' opinions. Easier said than done of course, but a little self love goes a long way and aim for that this year.
2. Forgive and Forget
Leave those grudges behind, don't welcome the new year with old fights and 'enemies.' Build bridges, talk it out and learn to forgive one another. There is honestly speaking from self experience nothing more refreshing than making amends and moving on. Don't waste this year being annoyed, bury those grudges, they were so last year. 2015 is a fresh start.
3. Take a Chance
Do something you've never done before, challenge yourself this year. Take a risk, and by no means do I mean jumping off cliffs (although bungy jumping...). But talk to new people, take those opportunities, start a blog maybe, or just do something you've never done before. Open yourself to new adventures and as much as I hate the saying, you honestly only live once, so make the most of it.
4. Be Realistic
The fault in so many of our goals is we set unrealistic ones, we focus on the end product too much that we forget what we need to do to actually get there. Don't start with an all out bang and go from nothing to everything. Start small, baby steps are literally what have gotten you here so far.
5. Be Appreciative
Sometimes we forget how lucky and privileged we are so appreciate those around you and the freedoms you have. Tell your family, your friends, your pets that you love them and take time out from this online social world to spend time with them in person.
And most importantly be happy :)
Old habits do die hard but hopefully this will motivate you enough to keep you on track for a least a while and give 2015 all you've got. Make 2015 good, make it memorable and leave your mark with a bang.
- xx C
